2008
Looking to get a better handle on your personal finances? Whether you’re planning for retirement, working to get out of debt, saving for college, or building a household budget, you’ll receive helpful information at a free Women & Money Conference.
The conference, organized by West Virginia State Treasurer John Perdue, will be held at three sites this year:
The conference will feature breakout sessions and a two-hour presentation by keynote speaker Dee Lee, a nationally known financial planner and author. Each participant will receive a free copy of Lee’s book Money: Your Personal Financial Guide. The seminars also include a continental breakfast and luncheon.
Financial services exhibitors will be on hand to explain their services and products.
Over the past six years, more than 7,500 people from across West Virginia have attended the Women & Money Conferences. To register for the Morgantown session, call (304) 341-0724 or visit the Web site (www.wvtreasury.com); select the Women & Money logo. Registration for the Huntington and Parkersburg conferences will begin in June.
The conferences are funded by sponsorships provided through the West Virginia Financial Education Foundation.
New and improved name badges and holders will be sent to WVU Extension employees in campus and county mail this week.
The new badge holders have a clip on them, which should keep them from slipping off the lanyards. Some employees reported that problem with the new lanyard-style holders after they were distributed at the annual meeting in November. The clip on the new holders can be fastened within the loop of the attached lanyard clasp. (Meg Baughman’s March 1 e‑mail message contains a picture showing how to attach the new holders.)
In addition, each badge holder is loaded with two name tag cards—one
facing each side. Even if the badges flip, your name will be visible. You may
use the badge holder to store a room key or meal card between the two name
cards.
If your name badges need any changes or corrections, contact Susan Prager (susan.prager@mail.wvu.edu).
Those who attended the new employee orientation last month already have the new badges.
The deadline for sending in orders for desktops, notebooks, projectors, and other peripherals is Friday, April 11. However, the sooner you send in your order, the sooner the Office of Technology can determine the percentage of the cost-share benefit. Right now, we are hoping for a 50 percent match, but the “pot” does have a bottom!

… To Our Good Health
Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs instead of taking escalators or elevators. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends; mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool; it’s also a “stress-buster.” Thought for the day: Cha, cha, cha … then do it!
