Revised May 2004
A. Pesticide recommendations to be included into extension documents for public release (bulletins, newsletters, project books, fact sheets, materials for newspapers, WWW, etc.) must be approved by the relevant extension faculty member who is a certified pesticide applicator. All materials containing pesticide recommendations must be identified and dated. Certified Extension personnel are responsible for removing outdated recommendations from circulation.
B. If the pesticide materials meet requirement A, faculty, staff, and volunteers at the county level can distribute such information to the public.
C. Only extension faculty/staff/approved volunteers* who are certified pesticide applicators (category 11 or other commercial categories) are permitted to make pesticide recommendations. Counties without an Extension-certified pesticide applicator should direct such inquiry to a neighboring county that has appropriate certified staff.
D. Agriculture/natural resource trained agents/specialists are expected to become certified within the first 6 months of employment and maintain certification.
*such as some Master Gardeners, etc.
